Getting To Know: The Marcus King Band, Organic Masters Of Soul Music

via LiveForLiveMusic.com

It's a pretty great time to be Marcus King right about now. The South Carolina native is just 19 years old, yet his debut album Soul Insight (2015) debuted at #8 on Billboard's blues charts last week and has been taking the music scene by storm. With good reason, King has found himself opening shows for bands like Gov't Mule, The Foo Fighters, Johnny Winter and more.

Ever since the age of 7, King knew he wanted to be a guitarist. Now, a dozen years later, the man has one of the most tremendous voices and guitar-playing styles in the business. The blues never sounded so genuine!

Speaking about the song and album, King cites Allman Brothers aficionados Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks as major inspiration. “Warren and Derek were big influences on me... That’s the level I aspire to with my own music,” he said in a statement. It's no surprise that Haynes signed Marcus King to his Evil Teen record label, giving the teenager a much-earned moment in the spotlight.

What is King doing now? Working on more music, of course! With demos already in the works for a new album, nothing can satisfy the insatiable musical soul that is Marcus King. We look forward to seeing him grow and prosper with his downright organic blend of soul music.
